Dr Dan Murphy

Dr Dan Murphy
MB, DObs, D.C.H., MRCGP, MICGP

Originally from Bandon in County Cork, Dr. Dan qualified from University College Cork and then moved to Galway to complete his General Practice Training. He worked as a G.P. in Carrick-on-Shannon and Kilkenny before taking up appointment in Salthill in 1998.

Dr. Dan has Memberships with both the Royal and Irish Colleges of General Practice. Dr. Dan is registered in the Specialist Division of General Practice and is a Trainer with the Western G.P. Training Programme. He is also a former examiner for the MICGP Examinations.

Special interests include Musculoskeletal Injuries/Sports Medicine/Teaching.

Dr. Dan is currently Medical Advisor with the Galway Lifeboat Division.

   
 

Dr Helen Howley

Dr Helen Howley
MB, BCh, BAO, MICGP, DFFP, D.Ther

Galway Girl, Dr. Helen Howley, from Salthill, Qualified as a Doctor from NUIG in 1991; she trained as a G.P. in West Wales from 1992 – 1995 and worked as a G.P. in Lampeter, Wales form 1996 – 2001. Dr Howley moved home to Galway in 2001 and worked in East Galway from 2001 – 2005; she then worked in the Galway Hospice form 2005 – 2011 and set up a G.P. practice in 2007 in Doughiska, Galway and was there up until 2016. She joined the team at Salthill Medical Centre in 2017.
Dr. Helen has membership with the Irish College of General Practice and has a Diploma in Family Planning and Diploma in Therapeutics. Dr. Helen is a registered Smeartaker with the National Cervical Screening Programme.
Her special interests include Palliative Care, Dermatology, Women’s Health and Paediatrics.

   
 

Dr Ruth Naughton

Dr Ruth Naughton
MB, BCh, BAO, DRCOG, DCH, MICGP, Dip. Derm

Originally from Galway, Dr. Ruth graduated from UCD in 2007.
After spending some time working in New Zealand in Paediatrics and Accident & Emergency, she returned to Galway where she worked in Obstetrics/Gynaecology Department at UCHG obtaining RCOG Diploma in Women’s Health.
Dr. Ruth completed Western GP Training Scheme in 2015, during whic she also obtained Diplomas in Child health and Dermatology. Dr. Ruth is a registered Smeartaker with the National Cervical Screening Programme. She holds a Contraceptive Certificate and is a Tutor in both Contraception and Long Acting Reversible Contraception, including Mirena/Kyleena and Copper Contraceptive Coil and Implanon. More recently, Dr. Ruth completed courses in both Women’s Health and Diabetes. Special interests include Paediatrics, Family Planning, Women’s Health and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

   
 

Nurse Antoinette Doyle

Antoinette joined the practice in 2003. She completed her general nurse training and Midwifery in London and returned to Ireland in 1995 to embark on a career in practice nursing .Since then Antoinette has continued her education and has completed many diplomas and higher diploma’s over the years.
 
Antoinette is a Registered Nurse Prescriber and has been an advocate for the introduction and promotion of nurse prescribing in general practice .Other areas of interest are Travel Health , Women’s Health , Diabetes , Asthma.

Her qualifications are as follows:

-Registered Smear Taker with National Cervical Screening Programme .
-Diploma in Asthma Care
-Diploma in Coronary Heart Disease Prevention.
-Diploma in Diabetes Management.
-Diploma in Women’s Health
-Higher Diploma in Practice Nursing .
-Certificate in Travel Health .
-Certificate in Nurse Prescribing
-Certificate in General Nurse Training
-Higher Diploma in Midwifery
